Process of identifying and advancing your personal values

 Personal Branding

The process of identifying and advancing your personal values is known as personal branding. The combination of your unique experiences, abilities, and values is your own brand.

Developing a strong personal brand is essential for social media influencers, independent contractors, and keynote presenters who want to "sell" their services to clients. For the average person, building a personal brand boosts self-esteem, creates new possibilities, and deepens self-awareness.

1. it focus on shaping and managing the public perception of an individual.

2. Highlighting their unique qualities, skills, experiences and values.

3. It works online and offline like social media presence, personal appearance.

4. The main goal is to differentiate oneself from others.

Defining your personal brand

Everybody possesses an own personal brand. Similar to business brands, you will have a predetermined impression on people. You can control how people see you and your interactions with them by managing your personal brand.

Companies such as Nike, for example, have invested a great deal of time and energy into developing a reputation as a brand for athletes and fitness aficionados. Nike uses marketing strategies, social media presence, and everything it offers to communicate this identity.

How to create a personal brand

Whether or not you develop it for yourself, you have a personal brand. It is the result of all you have done, both online and off. Still, there are a few cautious actions you may take to modify your brand. For example:

Establish objectives for your own brand: Choose your reputation and the steps you need to take to build your identity.
Examine your current brand: Look up your name online to see what others have already said about you. This will demonstrate the extent of your need for change.
Formulate a unified plan of action: Establish a consistent schedule and decide how you will promote your identity (via social media, interviews, and blogging).

Personal Branding Frameworks and Principles

When defining and communicating a personal brand built on purpose, several frameworks offer structured approaches to this introspective and strategic process. Some of these are listed below. Each framework, while unique in its methodology, converges on helping individuals articulate and embody their personal brand effectively.

Four C’s

This framework revolves around core elements: Clarity, consistency, content, and communication.

  • Clarity involves having a clear understanding of who you are and what you stand for.
  • Consistency refers to the need to consistently represent these values and attributes across various platforms and interactions.
  • Content focuses on creating and sharing material that reflects and reinforces your brand.
  • Communication emphasizes the importance of building relationships and effectively and authentically conveying your brand to others. 1

Seven Pillars

Jill Hauwiller, owner and principal consultant at Leadership Refinery, describes the framework she leads her coaching clients through—one that encompasses seven key components: Purpose, Values, Clarity, Strengths, Energy, Legacy, and Ownership.

  • Purpose is about understanding why you do what you do. Asking questions like, “What gives meaning to my life?” can help us identify our purpose.
  • Values represent the guiding principles that shape your actions and decisions.
  • Clarity, again, emphasizes the importance of clear self-understanding and authenticity.
  • Strengths focus on recognizing and leveraging your unique skills and talents.
  • Energy pertains to the passion and enthusiasm you bring to your endeavors.
  • Legacy involves considering the long-term impact and imprint you wish to leave.
  • Ownership is about taking responsibility for your brand and its development.
